Through the years, the Independent Icelandic and Northern Energy Portal has worked with several companies as cooperative partners, such as Arion bank, Landsnet, Landsvirkjun, and Mannvit. Since 2015, the Portal has been operated totally independent, without formal cooperative partners. We continue working with our excellent academic partners, which are Iceland’s two main universities, Reykjavik University and the University of Iceland.
The School of Science and Engineering at Reykjavik University (RU) emphasizes excellent teaching, groundbreaking research and strong ties to industry and institutions working in the relevant fields. Reykjavik University is Iceland’s largest private university, with more than 3,000 students and over 500 employees. The School of Science and Engineering places a strong emphasises on having active research and development. The School was established in 2005, following the merger of Reykjavik University and the Technical University of Iceland.
University of Iceland is the oldest institution of science and education in Iceland, established in 1911. In 2006, the University of Iceland set itself the ambitious long-term goal to become one of the 100 leading universities in the world. In order to achieve that goal, the university intends to focus on outstanding research, teaching and support services. The university now works purposefully towards implementing this strategy, applying rigorous internal quality assurance measures to all its operations. External assessment regularly shows that the university is fully in line with international standards.
The Icelandic and Northern Energy Portal is and always has been an independent entity, with its own editorial policy. For exchange of information and fruitful cooperation we have set up an Advisory Board of the following persons:
– Dr. Daði Már Kristófersson, Associate Professor, Faculty of Economics, University of Iceland.
– Dr. Guðrún A. Sævarsdóttir, Dean of School of Science and Engineering, Reykjavik University.
– Mr. Ketill Sigurjónsson, founder of Askja Energy Partners.
